Services

Personal Assistance
Personal assistance is the fundamental social service which our trained assistants work in with people with physical or combined disabilities. The aim is to provide a free and active life in a natural environment based on their own wishes. We work in the form of managed assistance, which is organised by coordinators; an instructor undertakes the training and hiring of new assistants.
Selected tasks of personal assistants
• Accompanying people when moving around the city and helping with finding the correct route.
• Assistance when attending to personal hygiene.
• Assistance when dealing with routine matters.
The main aim of the services of Asistence o.p.s. is to support active involvement in normal society, whether work, study or free time, including assistance in the running of the household.

Social Rehabilitation:

Transition Programme
The programme offers support mainly to young people with physical or combined disabilities in the period of life changes, most commonly when transferring from school to employment and their next life stage, but also in later periods.
As a part of individual cooperation these people, with consultants, focus on, e.g. gaining experience on the open employment market (including finding work experience), living independently, utilising the services and support of people around them, actively using their free time, etc.
During this process consultants are only a support for the client while creating their own vision for their future life and implementing plans for their fulfilment. For such cooperation we use Person-centred Planning.
It means nothing more than we work with respect on our clients’ opinions and plans. We are purely guides on their journey to achieving their goals, which lead them to life satisfaction. We seek new possibilities with them, which do not only come from the current offer of services. We build on what the client can do, things in which they are strong and on specific support in order for them to manage everything they plan. For implementation of the plan and important life changes the client engages people around him/her.

Supported Employment
Supported employment is a service designed for people with physical and combined disabilities who want to get and hold a job on the open employment market, i.e. in a normal working environment. Supported employment is limited to two years, but in exceptional circumstances may be extended.
How it works: The cooperation works in the form of individual consultations with a consultant, usually once per week. With the support of the consultant the client concentrates on the development of work areas, development of independence, training of work skills and development of resources of natural support. The consultant supports the client when creating and implementing their plans in order for them to live as they wish and be a member of normal society.
Supported employment includes these basic activities:
1. Practicing the skills necessary to perform at work.
2. Assistance in the individual search for a suitable working position.
3. Employment-legal counselling.
4. Adjusting the work environment.
5. Working assistance in the workplace.
6. Assistance in solving any problems in the workplace.

Counselling
In psychological counselling we offer support in self-awareness, interpersonal relationships, reinforcing one’s own identity and self-confidence.
The services of social rehabilitation and personal assistance supplement the counselling of Asistence o.p.s. We offer clients the possibility of support in performing their daily and non-standard situations relating to their disabilities.
In social counselling, clients have the possibility to obtain information in the sphere of social services, social benefit payments, and living possibilities in a social-legal sense. We offer one-off or short-term assistance for orientation in the given areas and long-term support in solving individual situations.
Our counselling is intended not only for clients but also for their family members, people close to them and other carers.
As a part of the counselling there are also group meetings. A group of clients is focused on self-awareness, interpersonal relationships, mutual support and their own experience. The focal point of the parent meeting is the sharing of life experiences with a handicapped member of the family.

Volunteering
The volunteer programme is aimed at free-time activities with clients because, as for every person, handicapped people also want to live a varied life, do sport and educate themselves in culture.
How and where volunteers help:
Accompanying our clients to cultural and social events (exhibitions, theatre, cinema, concerts, tearooms, cafes, etc.) and other free-time activities (groups playing the flute, swimming, various sports, etc.).
Taking part in Asistence’s client group free-time activities. Volunteers are becoming a part of the theatre group. They are assisting in creative workshops and can be a part of the client’s therapy support group. At these meetings they arrange further joint events such as trips, etc.
Trips to various parts of the Czech Republic. Volunteers travel together with clients in the summer on trips outside of Prague, to enjoy a festival or to relax in the countryside. In this way volunteers and clients have a better possibility to get to know each other (they travel, go for lunch and spend the whole day together).
Individual help for clients. This includes, for example, assisting during preparation for school, learning a foreign language, working on a computer, during individual free-time activities, during after-school clubs, just being at home or on a walk or trip. There is increasing interest in individual assistance from both young people with special needs and volunteers.
